The difference never shows on the pricing page. It shows the day traffic doubles, the backup disk fills up, or you need someone on the phone at 11 p.m. on a Friday.

This article gives dirham ranges for 2026, line by line, and above all the items that never appear in the advertised price. These are observed market ranges in Morocco, not contractual rates — your actual quote depends on the provider and your configuration.

The goal is narrow: to let you put three offers side by side on the same basis before you sign a twelve-month commitment.

Why hosting budgets are hard to pin down in Morocco

Three reasons, and none of them is a provider acting in bad faith.

The billing units are not comparable. A Moroccan host sells you a flat monthly package: a machine, disk space, reasonable traffic. A hyperscaler sells you compute per hour, storage per GB, outbound traffic per GB and requests per million. Putting both in one spreadsheet means forecasting a consumption you do not know yet, because the application is not in production.

Currency. International offers bill in dollars or euros, by card. Between exchange rate movement, bank fees and how a foreign invoice is handled by your accountant, a 300 USD line does not compare cleanly to a 3,000 MAD line. Ask your accountant how those invoices will be processed before you choose, not after.

The word hosting covers different scopes. For one provider it means a machine that is powered on. For another it includes OS patching, monitoring, tested backups and an on-call rotation. If you have just gone through a platform move you already met that gap: our guide on cloud migration cost and timeline in Morocco covers the project price. This article covers the invoice that lands every month for the next five years.

VPS, dedicated server, managed cloud: where the money actually goes

Four families, four pricing logics. The useful question is not which one is best, but which one bills you for the work you do not want to do — or cannot do — in house.

Shared hosting — 40 to 150 MAD per month. Your site shares a machine with hundreds of others. Fine for a brochure site, unsuitable as soon as a back office is doing real work.

VPS — 120 to 600 MAD per month depending on RAM and disk. You get your own virtual machine. You also become the sysadmin: kernel, certificates, firewall, backups. That time has a cost; it simply is not on the host’s invoice.

Dedicated server — 900 to 3,500 MAD per month. Makes sense for a stable heavy load or a licensing constraint. Makes little sense if your load swings.

Pay-per-resource public cloud — you pay for what runs, per hour or per second. Cheap for environments you switch off, expensive for a server running 24/7 that you could have reserved.

Managed cloud — 2,500 to 12,000 MAD per month for an SME. Infrastructure plus operations: monitoring, patching, verified backups, a contractual response time.

One rule to keep: total cost = infrastructure + operations. If the operations line is zero on the quote, someone on your team will pay it in hours. Price it: two hours of admin work a week is roughly 2,000 to 4,000 MAD a month of internal time.

2026 cloud hosting Morocco price ranges by workload

The ranges below cover hosting and routine operations, excluding development work and application licences.

Brochure or corporate site

40 to 150 MAD per month on shared hosting; 150 to 500 MAD on a small VPS with a certificate, daily backup and a CDN. Above roughly 800 MAD per month for a brochure site, ask what justifies the gap. Usually it is managed services you are paying for without being told — which can be excellent value, as long as it is stated.

SME ecommerce

400 to 1,500 MAD per month for a store handling up to a few hundred orders monthly on a properly sized VPS. 2,000 to 6,000 MAD per month once you want a staging environment, a serious backup plan and someone reachable during Black Friday or Ramadan. Payment is separate: the CMI gateway has its own fees, which are not hosting but land in the same month.

Internal business application

1,500 to 8,000 MAD per month for an ERP, a CRM or a custom app serving 20 to 150 users. The main variable is not user count but the database: its size, its write rate and the recovery window you accept. A four-hour RPO and a fifteen-minute RPO are not the same price.

Data, BI and AI

800 to 5,000 MAD per month for an SME-scale data warehouse. GPU compute is rented by the hour — expect tens to a few hundred dirhams per hour depending on the card. This is where bills run away fastest, because a notebook left running over the weekend genuinely costs money. Before investing there, make sure the data is worth storing: that is the point of a data quality audit before a BI or AI project.

In every case, budget 20 to 40 percent above the production price for staging, off-site backup and monitoring. That is not comfort spending: it is what lets you restore.

Moroccan sovereign cloud or international hyperscaler

At equivalent resources, hosting inside Morocco often comes out 15 to 40 percent more expensive than a comparable instance in a European datacentre. Against that, three concrete benefits: billing in dirhams with no currency exposure, support in French or Darija in your own time zone, and lower latency for Moroccan users.

The deciding argument is usually regulatory. Law 09-08 governs personal data processing, and transferring data abroad involves formalities with the CNDP whose conditions depend on the destination country and the nature of the data. Do not take a salesperson’s word on this: check the CNDP website and have your contract reviewed. If you handle health data, detailed HR records or banking data, or if your client is a public body, local hosting is frequently a buyer requirement before it is a legal one.

An honest caveat: sovereign is not a magic label. What matters is where the data and the backups physically sit, which law governs the contract, and who holds the encryption keys. We broke down the available offers in our Morocco sovereign cloud comparison. Many SMEs land on a mixed architecture: personal and sensitive data in Morocco, non-sensitive workloads elsewhere.

What inflates the bill: bandwidth, storage, support, SLA

The headline price rarely covers more than 60 to 70 percent of the real invoice. The additions:

Outbound traffic. With hyperscalers, everything your servers send to the internet is billed per GB. An image-heavy or video-heavy site can spend a meaningful share of its budget there. Local hosts offer generous flat allowances subject to fair use — ask for the actual threshold in figures, and what happens past it.

Storage and backups. Snapshots, off-site copies and long retention are almost always billed separately. Thirty-day retention and twelve-month retention are not the same price.

Licences. Windows Server, SQL Server, cPanel or Plesk stack on top, often per core or per month. This is the classic surprise when comparing a Linux quote against a Windows quote.

Support. Business-hours support is included; 24/7 on-call with a committed response time is paid for, as a flat fee or a percentage of the bill.

The SLA. Moving from 99.5 to 99.9 percent availability changes the architecture, so it changes the price. Read the remedy too: compensation is nearly always pro-rated service credits, not coverage of your business loss. An outage remains possible with any host — the real question is the stated restoration time and what you do during it.

Security. WAF, DDoS protection, retained logs, encryption at rest: useful, rarely included. We cover this in detail in our piece on cloud security audit cost in Morocco.

Monthly, annual commitment or pay-as-you-go

The contract model alone can swing your annual cost by 40 percent for identical infrastructure.

Monthly, no commitment: 20 to 30 percent more expensive, but you can leave on short notice. The right choice for the first six months, while you still do not know your real load.

Annual commitment: 10 to 25 percent discount. Check automatic renewal, notice period length and any price indexation clause.

Pay-as-you-go: ideal for variable or seasonal load. Dangerous without budget alerts configured on day one.

One to three year reservations: 30 to 50 percent discount, but you are betting your architecture will not change. Avoid until the application has stabilised.

A sensible sequence: three to six months monthly with real consumption measurement, then an annual commitment on the stable portion of the load only.

Billing traps to spot before you sign

Six items to check line by line — ideally while you are writing your requirements, not when the first quote arrives. Our guide on writing an IT RFP buyers can actually price covers how to phrase them.

The first-year promotional rate. Ask for the list price that applies at renewal, and get it in writing.

Automatic renewal. A 60 or 90 day notice period you forgot to diarise commits you for another full year.

Exit fees. Getting your data back has a cost, often per GB of outbound traffic. Require a reversibility clause: export format, deadline, price.

Backups included. Included, yes — but is the restore billed per intervention? And are you allowed to test a restore twice a year?

Support scope. Infrastructure issues are covered; anything in your application layer is usually billed per ticket or per hour. Ask for three written examples on each side of that line.

Resource overage. What happens when you exceed the quota: retroactive billing, throttling, or cut-off? All three exist in the market.

One question settles a lot of arguments: ask the provider for an anonymised real invoice from a client with a comparable profile. Providers who bill cleanly hand it over without hesitation.

What now?

Arrowlancer works with Moroccan companies on cloud and infrastructure: hosting selection, migration, sovereign cloud, operations and security. In practice that means sizing your actual need, comparing offers on an identical scope, and reading the contract with you before you sign it.

If you have two or three hosting quotes on your desk and a doubt about what they really contain, get in touch — or take a look at what we do first.

VPS, managed cloud or sovereign cloud: 2026 price ranges in MAD by workload, the CNDP trade-off, and the hidden fees to check before you sign.

[119
446,63,166,449,169,452
post-126","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-cost_and_planning-en","tag-cloud-hosting-en","tag-cndp-en","tag-it-budget-en","tag-morocco-cloud-en","tag-sovereign-cloud-en","tag-vps-en
["GET
